So went out stripping today with jshanks and we both made some coin. It was a great day except for one older fella that wasn’t to keen on me surgically removing a Rosie from his strip. Most people were very nice.

Today’s finds for me
3.96 in clad
Tootsie car
Random key like item
5 wheat pennies
Some Canuck pennies
A really cool older lipstick container it appears, not 100% on manufacturer yet
A Hammered Americana  not sure play money I assume
1914 Barber dime
1949 Rosie
Amusement token

That’s back to back weekends getting barbers. Haven’t had any barbers till last weekend. I was really hoping to find a merc so went a bit longer than jshanks trying to get a trifecta back to back but it wasn’t meant to be. Had a great weekend and look forward to next weekend hitting the curbs again. This week after work I am going to be trying a older homesite that is gone. I am assuming there won’t be much to show from there. Thanks again for looking. And happy hunting

Now I want my damn silver quarter any year please.

I highly highly highly recommend curb stripping. If you are polite, clean and leave no trace it 100% can lead to permissions. And then you get a individual that has that mentality of “get off my lawn” even though it isn’t his lawn. Jshanks brought up a great point today. As the older fella came out here is how it went down.
Hey what are you doing?
Oh we are just looking for older turn of the century relics and coins!
Well that’s my lawn!
Actually it is the county’s easement so technically it’s open to the public.
Well I mow it!
Yeah ok so you want me to move on?
Yes yes I want you to move on.

As jshanks said they always say well I mow it once you point out it isn’t there’s.

I am sure I will encounter this many more times.

That's a great day! Congrats on the silver.

Not sure I could put up with the occasional grump telling me to get off his lawn. lol
But I still might try it soon.

Congratulations on the Barbers! Funny how you hunt for a long time wanting to find something and it seems like it will never happen. Then there are two just like that. Right Wolf-Dog?

I can't wait to find my first Barber.

The 'play money' looks like a Jetton, see link for examples.

"Jetons or jettons are tokens or coin-like medals produced across Europe from the 13th through the 18th centuries.

They were produced as counters for use in calculation on a counting board, a lined board similar to an abacus. They also found use as a money substitute in games, similar to modern casino chips or poker chips."

Thousands of different jetons exist, mostly of religious and educational designs, as well as portraits, the last of which most resemble coinage, somewhat similar to modern, non-circulation commemorative coins. The spelling "jeton" is from the French; the English spell it "jetton"

So they copied one of those. Hmm pretty cool thanks for the info I appreciate it. That is the main reason I post on here is to learn from others to understand more.

Thanks again

The occasional grump isn’t gonna stop me anymore. I am willing to deal with them if I find something. The best thing is I got the Rosie out before he came out muhahaha

The first was cooler than second. I am ok to keep finding them as well. I really want a silver quarter though any year. Only main denomination I haven’t found besides a silver dollar.

Great finds , play by play and photos once again . I really enjoy your posts ! Congrats !

Thanks soil surgeon. I will continue posting if I find anything of interest. The field I have done most of my time in just rarely produces. It did produce my 3 oldest coins and only seated but it’s tall now so trying other places out. I will be out next weekend again and hope to find more. During the week probably just junk is my guess. Thanks again.
