I found both of these buttons today at an old townsite location.

The one on the left appears to be a US service type button. I found a similar button on ebay with the backing, but it looks more like a screw on pin then a button. The seller thinks its a civil war US Naval Academy button, but I have my doubts.

The button on the right is I believe foreign, and Im guessing Canadian since I have found other military type Canadian relics here. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Can we get a picture of the backs of the buttons, especially of any back mark on them.

I have a button that very much resembles the button on the right, BUT that image is on the back of my button and the front is a checker board type pattern. I'll try to get a picture...

THat right side button looks a lot like British general service button. Has king's crown which means 1902-1952. Dunno if the usually had a backmark or not.
