Was in NW Pennsylvania last week on a fly-fishing outing at a family camp. I got there early Wednesday and went to a wooded area that used to be part of the city. About 1500 ppl lived there from mid 1800's to the 1920's. The local businesses used up the natural resources and the town was razed. I had the 11" coil on, I realized the 6" would def be better as there's still tons of stuff in the ground. I love the double-bit ax head! I also found a 1911 penny.

Congrats on the cool finds. Always wanted to learn to flyfish, just never got around to it. Anymore just buttoning my shirt is an accomplishment so learning to tie flies is out of the question. Good luck, Mark

what river? I know some of the largest brown trout on the east coast are in the top of the clarion river...

I no longer have the patients to tie flies, especially now you can buy them for 69 cents online. When I paid $3-$4 for a wholly Bugger I tied.

Any idea what that item is on the upper right?

I found something similar a few months ado.

I'll upload a new pic this evening, I'm glad you asked. I'm not sure what it is yet but it's an interesting item. There's some type of hinges inside.

We fished creeks exclusively. There's a lot of good trout fishing in PA.

Here's the other pics.

Cool finds. Love the double head axe too! Sounds like you were close to my neck of the woods by Lake Erie!

If you’re referring to the decorative item, second from right in upper right corner of photo, it looks a lot like the shut-off knob for a 19th century wall gas light fixture.

I agree Jim, matter o fact I dug the exact same one a year or so back and was thrilled with the find. Cool relic. You been doing any good up your way ? Good luck, Mark

Mark… thanks for asking. My last outing at an older local park, I scored a 1943 Walking Half. Had not been out for a few months and I overdid it by swinging the XLT for four hours; very sore shoulder. To make matters worse, while holding onto our 50-pound dog’s harness in the Home Depot garden center, he saw another dog before I did and bolted away from me “to greet” the other dog. Spun me around and I hit the concrete floor. My shoulder (yes the detector-swinging, right shoulder) has been paining me now for a few weeks, so unable to do any detecting. I’m seeing a shoulder specialist tomorrow.
