Been a long weekend for me, so I decided to detect in the woods behind my house. I ended up finding my first ever a penny, shotgun headstamps, and another ax head, which I have soaking in vinegar to clean it up. Not a bad day.

Good to hear your finding things. 1912 is a old wheat. If there’s one there’s probably more?
The ground is frozen here so it’s good here your getting out. Good luck!

Thanks and the ground is frozen here as well, but in the woods i can kick away the leafs and it’s not has hard.

Great finds once again. I obviously love the headstamps, but the axe head is also a really cool find too. Congrats!

I knew if I put headstamps in the title that you would come take a look Turtle. Haha. Thanks! The Axe head I’ll clean up and grind down a little like another one I found not far from this one. Problem is i can’t find any marks showing who made it and yet i don’t know how to age it. Any thoughts?

I cannot help you date the ax head. It's frustrating when you cannot find a maker's mark. Unfortunately, that is common with ax heads. Only one of mine has been marked.
