Got this piece last fall in a park
I think it is the persons name ( carter )
We have a town near us called Stratford
The number something to do with a sports number
And the year 1930
And the slot in the top maybe to put it through your suspender ??
What do you guys think ??

I believe that is a baggage tag. From where, I'm not certain. Carter and Stratford would be the railroad lines. To and from I believe. Cool relic!

Thanks for your knowledge
I can see that it's very possibly that.

Here's a possibility - Some cities licensed carters, which are companies which haul and/or remove waste materials. NYC apparently still has a carter's license. Especially with the specific date, this could be for the town of Stratford. Similar to the chauffer's licenses which are often found. Don't know if it would be worn or mounted on the truck. The slot is kind of strange for this type of use, you would expect a pin back. Who knows? The date implies something issued for a year.

The RR luggage tags I see on the line don't tend to have dates. Wouldn't be necessary. I like the license idea. A license would have to have a date, that's the point of it.

Maybe just a dog license. A really cool one!

Just thinking out loud.
