Anyone hunt Civil War Relics in Atlanta 1980's?

I am curious to know what it was like in the 80's metal detecting for Civil War relics in metro Atlanta back in the 1980's. Areas like Decatur, Collier road, Cobb county, Dallas, GA.

Yeah, much better before "progress" moved in and overtook it all. I talked to a guy who dug in Cobb and Paulding Counties (to name a few) in the 1980's and to hear him talk the area was wide open with lots of land to hunt. He found so many unique US and CS items and even a completed sword near Smyrna.
