Who likes photography

Interesting scope Gary, a chap in our astronomy club has one.
I've tried putting my camera on our Dobsonian, but can't get focus as the
primary mirror needs to be moved. A friend bought us a similar phone adapter
but I haven't got around to trying it. Although I have taken photos using
our solar scope with some success.
As I write I am awaiting a knock on the door with my new spotting scope.
It will be mainly for viewing wildlife, but will also double up as a portable
wide field astro scope.

It is the original version of the Edmund "Astroscan" a 4" wide field reflector.

Not sure how to resolve your Dobsonian focus problem, but I had reasonably good success using a scope adapter, might have to do some fine tuning for getting the sharpest image though.

I have the Mylar filters used for solar observing, haven't tried them in a while, need to check and see what the current level of sunspot activity is and where we are on the current solar cycle.

Hope your new scope works as good as you hope !

We splashed out on a Lunt solar scope a while back. Of course it goes
without saying that since then there has hardly been any viewable
activity on the sun. Although we were able to see the transit of Mercury
last year.
I've just had my first look thorough my new spotting scope. I'm impressed !

Here's a few more.

White light or H-alpha? I have a Coronado (not double stacked). I watched the transit of Venus through that. I don't think I'll be around for the next one...

H-Alpha. Solar activity is still very quiet unfortunately :(

I really like your wildlife photos, thefinder (not sure if you've posted your first name or not). It has spurred me to post a few of my own, which I will do in subsequent replies to this thread.

Thanks for starting this.

Great Meadows, Concord, Massachusetts

Taken in 2015, while on a photo trip to Great Meadows National Wildlife Refuge, with my friend Dennis. I don't have a digital SLR, just a Canon SX60 HS, a "Super-Zoom" with an equivalent maximum optical focal length of 1357 mm (in 35 mm terms).

I have been using Google's Picasa photo editor for years, even though it is no longer supported and can no longer be downloaded from their web site. Picasa has most everything I need and is easy and intuitive to use. I've used Photoshop during a Web Design program at Boston University and have Photoshop Elements, but still prefer Picasa for most everything..

Anyway, here's a few photo's...
