I have a GTI 1500 with both 9.5 and 12.5 concentric coils. No problem
pinpointing with them. Also have an Ace 350 with 8.5 x 11 DD coil. No
problem pinpointing with it. On target EVERY time. Just bought a 10 x 14
Power DD coil for my 1500 and have used it 2 days now and best I can
do is get within 3" of my target. Digging 4" plugs. The little target on it
has been true about 20% of the time. Target usually either there or 3"
to the rear. Is there a method to learning the madness? Anyone out
there with one that can give me some tips?

i used the 10x14 DD for a while, infact that became my main coil on my 1500. anyway i always just dropped the target off the tip of the coil, used to do the same with the 8.5X11 DD on my AT pro

I had become so frustrated with the little target icon on the coil that I didn't
even try that. I know on my 350 I use to find the target and then move
back and forth over it, and backing up while doing that and I would have my
target right off the front tip of the coil. Is that what you are saying? Just
use it the same way as I did with the 350 and 8.5 x 11? Man if that's right,
I'm going to feel so stupid after 2 days of trying to make the target area
work for me. I will say this, I have gone over the same small area with the
350 & 8.5x11 and found coins, went behind it with the 1500 with the 9.5
coil and found coins, went behind that with the 12.5 and found coins, and
now without properly pinpointing with the 10x14 I still am finding coins.
I see the benefits of the 10x14 because I have a lot of litter and found
5 coins yesterday under old plow parts etc..with the 10x14. Thanks again
and just let me know if I am right about backing up while scanning until
I loose signal and it should be about 1-2 inches off front tip.http://metaldetectingforum.com/images/smilies/puzzled.gif
