Good Idea.

If only there is a way to word the "reward not expected" to let them know they are accepted though.

Does'nt mean they won't still offer. This is a great idea. Helping people find their stuff is one of the best feelings. WOLF

Tips are not expected but are accepted. Seen that on a tip jar somewhere.

Maybe this hint might work....:spiteful:

Well, if the only reason an MD'er would help someone search for something they lost would be to receive a reward or payment, that MD'er would definitely be better off joining RingFinders, or Metal Detectives, or another group like that whose purpose is to market & charge for their services.

The main idea of the Lost My Stuff Group is to help people just for the sake of helping!!!

pretty cool.. I just signed up myself to offer my services in SW Oklahoma.

CTCurt 01-03-2011 08:32 AM

I signed up, been contacted 3 times by people more than 1000 miles away...they must click reply all????....Curt

fogcity 01-03-2011 12:39 PM

The group is set up such that whenever someone reports a lost item their email is forwarded to all the group members, regardless of their home location. If any of the group members are near the location and available to help, they email or telephone the person to discuss how to best proceed. If they are too far away, they simply ignore the email.

Success! Took about 15 minutes. He lost it in @ 2 to 3 inches of snow. When we got there, their was only a frost layer. Lucky for us. So I asked where he was standing and where he was shooting to. He showed me and their must have been @ 1,000,000,0000,000,000 shell casings. No way the detector was gonna work here plus you all know what a lot of people use as targets? Yeah! Aluminum cans. So I just started to trace his area back and forth. Picked 4 shiny .380 bullets that had not been fired and told the guy if we are finding these shiny bullets your ring should show too. I took another couple of steps and there it was. he was stoked and thanks to the "Lost my stuff" group he was able to contact me and we were able to find it. He will post on the group his story and pics. WOLF

wolf-n-wa 01-09-2011 02:45 AM

Thanks Fogcity! The group is working like it should. WOLF

Good job Wolf, a very nice shot in the arm for the hobby! And without fogcity's idea for the website, Wolfie wouldn't have been able to help! Karma will come both your way!

Yeah, called her tonight and we are going tomorrow @ 10 a.m. But she may or may not have lost it in a little parking lot grass strip while waiting for a lock smith. So, it's a high traffic area. Somebody may have already eye-balled it. I'll get pics if she brings a camera. WOLF

NevTrac 01-19-2011 02:11 AM

Guess I don't read this part of the forum enough. I'm catching up though.

I'm part of the group, and when somebody needs help their e-mail is sent nationwide to everybody in the group, that's how I knew wolf had another job to do up there. I'm still waiting for somebody to lose something here in Colorady.

wolf-n-wa 01-19-2011 08:21 PM

No luck today. She lost it in a Target parking lot where the trees are planted in a little 5'X5' area. The dirt was hard packed. I told her if she dropped it there more than likely someone eye-balled it and picked it up. Kind of sad as she said it (the ring) has gone through 3 deployments of her husband and he is getting ready to deploy again. She see's it as a good luck charm. Hopefully someone found it and will turn it in to Target. can't be victorious all teh time but I really wish i could have found this one. For her piece of mind. WOLF

NevTrac 01-19-2011 08:45 PM

To bad you didn't find it Wolf. I'm sure you gave it your best effort. Hopefully someone will turn it in though.
Keith

Rob479 01-19-2011 08:47 PM

Nice try Wolf! Like you said, hopefully someone found it and will return it.

Valiant effort Wolf, can't knock 'em all out of the ballpark though. Let's hope somebody has a heart and does turn it in.

Hey Everybody ---

The Lost My Stuff Group is planning to create some logo type shirts & stuff, and at the recommendation of a few of our members I wanted to ask if any of you artistic types out there would please help us in the process!!!

The plan is to come up with a few nice designs, vote on the favorite(s), and then make them available to whoever is interested. Any help that any of you can provide in coming up with a design will be greatly appreciated!!!

As a starting point, below are three example pics I have in an uploadable format (courtesy of Florida Bill). I'm sure several of you will be able to come up with additional designs... Our only thoughts were that our Group name (The Lost My Stuff Group), our motto (We help find lost stuff for FREE!!!), and our web address (www.lostmystuff.net) should be present someplace.

Thanks in advance!!!

sirwalle 05-25-2011 11:24 AM

All looks good. But I like first and second one.

Diggler 05-25-2011 11:30 AM

I like the first one...because it looks like my profile...

Brittany-Guy 05-25-2011 11:36 AM

1 or 2 look fine to me.
