For those of you who have owned an ORX or still do and may be considering getting the XP Icon here is a quick video on my test bed.

Not a professional video at all.

Just me and my cell phone showing how each detector reacts to the items in the ground

The ORX has great separation

The square tone option of the icon enhances the signal on deeper targets

The screen is larger on the icon and also has a brighter backlight

Where those both 11" coils?
Was the ORX noticeably lighter?
Thanks for the video.

No they are both 9 inch coils. I just purchased an icon remote and paired it to my deusc2 9 inch coilm so the icon was using the deus 2 9 inch fmf coil and the orx was using the 9 inch hf white coil.

They are both about the same weight in this configuration.

The icon with the 11 inch coil that is included with it when you buy the complete detector is several grams lighter than the orx.

However I do not know the exact weight.

Both units are very light to begin with.

Hi Tim. Do you remember the detecting frequency each detector was using in the video?
You know, frequency makes a huge difference.

The ORX was running 31khz because I had the icon in FMF mode. When the icon is turned on it does an automatic frequency scan. It will land on a channel where 40khz may be the highest FMF multiple frequency.

The icon does ID better in FMF mode on deeper signals, has better tones and a better screen. FMF mode is not the best hunting in heavy iron patches. You will be better off going to single frequency when in areas like that.

Don't get me wrong...I love that little ORX and am very familiar with it.

But I like several things on the icon better

Especially having full tones with the square tone option and the larger numbers.
