WW2 ID Tag return info

I have a round WW1 Military ID tag . it has a service number since it is pre social security, and a name. They were hand stamped . It was found in Historic downtown Macon , Bibb cty Georgia. In the county next door was a WW1 and then WW2 Army boot camp and artillery and Calvary camp totaling 35000 acres. Macon had a train depot to transport the soldiers. my grandparent and Dad passed through their. my wife and I did extensive research. the camp was farmers land and woodlands and was returned back after each war. it is periodically checked for ordinance. my brother in laws dad removed the barracks starting a house moving business after WW2. WW1 was just tents. I know who the tag belonged too ..Gottfrid Thulin of Chicago, Cook county Illinois. He was a Swedish Immigrant and a carpenter. he had family there too. He got his Naturalization papers in Macon Georgia at the Federal courthouse while in boot camp. . we found and got copies on line thru Ancestry. he had children, prob grandkids too but the info is private. He is buried with his wife in Illinois. Northwest of Chicago, i have the cemetery written down cant think of it off top of my head. it was northwest of Chicago but i have grave pictures from Find a Grave.

If you ever saw the Lost Battalion movie played by Ricky Schroeder as Major Whittlesby he collected the tags from the dead, the same round aluminum pot metal tags with a number and name hand stamped. this is based on the true story.

i would love to return the tag to a family member . my cousin has my WW1 grandfathers tag helmet and bayonet.

if anyone can help i can furnish the papers of naturalization, army papers, census papers, and gravesite beside his wife. he made it back as did my ancestor thank God. we posted on the sites for several years family tree etc to no avail.

God Bless the U S vet!
