Apologies if this has been covered in another thread. I did search for one but couldn't find it.

I'm just curious where you all dispose of your precious metal finds. Local jewelers around here are thieves in neckties.

Thanks!

I've seen stuff on eBay labeled "Metal Detecting Find" go for way, way more than melt price, even more than retail in a lot of cases.

People want a piece of the action. If you've got any pictures of the rings in-situ, I think that helps, too.

If you're savvy, do some research and see what the key words are. If you're not savvy, the local library usually has some very helpful folks to help with things like this.

I have put scrap up on Craigs and I found a woman who pays more than any place else ...mail in or otherwise...
Like 90% or more she pays..I saved her number and call her everytime I have scrap

Definitely look around, I was selling alot of my gold on the internet previously. I found a guy paying over 90% and I've been going to him ever since. Took me roughly 5 years to find someone to pay a fair price though. Most are insulting offers...

Looks like they pay 95% for gold. Pretty good. Have you found them to be accurate with respect to weight and fineness?
I am satisfied with what they pay me.
BTW there us a refiner in Texas also which pays for your diamonds also, but I can't remember the name offhand.

For scrap busted up gold & silver jewelry I've done Midwest Refineries & ARA....I think I like ARA better, their payouts always seem closer to my calculations than Midwest's payouts..Midwest does have a faster turn around time though.. I would go with ARA, just my opinion though..

Definitely ARA Gold. They pay something like 97%+ of spot, with the rest of their profits recovered in the other metals alloyed with your precious metals that you're turning in. None better, in my book.

Problem with that is that you are admitting you found it. Anyone in the right jurisdiction can make claim to it. With the photos provided they can describe it perfectly. The location where it was found can't be proven either way.
I'd probably steer away from this selling avenue

Never had any problems selling gold rings on eBay and I always get more than scrap value for them. If you're selling it for scrap, there's no need to give too many details, such as ring size, inscription or any hallmark inside the ring. That will guarantee that some lowlife won't try to make a claim on the ring.

When was the last time you used ARA?
