Found today, front yard of 1840s farm. Rang up as brass, 1/2 thick and just a bit larger than a 50 cent piece. Both sides are identical, not hollow but has filling. Doesn’t appear to have been attached to anything. Thought it was a compact, but no hinges and not meant to be opened. Some kind of gaming piece?

I wouldn't be surprised if it unscrews that second picture looks like it will separate. The line is not centered so might be a makeup container. Is it hollow? I'd put a couple vice grips on it and try and turn it.

After looking at this link, I am pretty sure it unscrews.

Just know that it is an aluminum mine field, but those high ass hippies have dropped a bunch of pre 1970 silver coins and roach clips to keep us busy. Bring John too. Reaching out later this week.

Not hollow, the inside feels like it filled with possibly lead…or some substance, nothing moving inside so not a compact as I usually hear old makeup or mirror shaking around in it.

How much does it weigh? Could it be some type of weight for measure? Does seem a bit fancy for that, but maybe this was the posh weight set.

AKKK! It's a small but lethal landmine! Quick, send it to me and I'll defuse it. :rofl2: Very cool find Chris. Soak a rag in Kroil penetrating oil and wrap it around this item for a few days and then see if it has loosened the seam. Good luck buddy.
