Today was a huntable day so went checking out a local site where two creeks merge. Old Indian village and colonial site. Ground was still too frozen to dig, and the field had 8" of soybean stubble so have to wait until they disc it in the spring. Did manage to find a V nickel on the creek bank, a clad dime and a bird band. The one creek did dive up a KG and a Liberty Cap LC last summer so I am hopeful for more colonial coins and relics when I can hunt it.

I think it is one of those sleeper sites that will give up a lot of artifacts both metal and stone. Sounds real good to me.

Congrats on the V nick & other neat finds! If the bird band is a federal band, try entering the info on it here to find out when & where it was tagged: Report Found Bird Bands :cool3: When you get to the spot where it asks how you aquired the band, there is actually a option for found band metal detecting. :D

You guys in Pennsylvania have so many targets and finds. Good for the keystone state!!

Nice Steve, good to see you got out. Congrats on the V nickel. It a bonus just for the fact we are able to hunt in February. Hope this mild weather hangs around all month. Good luck. Mark

Thanks Mark. Just wish we could find some decent V Nickels sometime.

You got some good ones there. What does the other side of that V look like?
I haven’t done much water hunting but plan to get out to the creeks and lake shore areas more this year. I hope I get as lucky as you
