Hit a tot lot today to test my gold program on the D2. I found this pendant that, I think, has been there a while. I was not on the surface layer but in the dirt at the bottom. The key was it was about 3" away from a metal toy. It looks the part, I've seen a lot of gold pendants. It has solid links on the two links still there. The weight is good, and it tests at 18k on both my electronic and my 3 acid tests, but no mark that I can find. It had a VDI of 36 on my Deus 2 which is in the foil range.

Your thoughts?

Two images. The top is with 18k lit up. The bottom is what it looks like with no lights on.

Very Nice!!!!! Congrats!!!!!

I think I have to give credit to the Deus 2 for this one. I believe it had been there for a while because it was packed with dirt in all the crevices. It was about 3" away from a metal pole of one of the toys, and I believe it was the fast recovery of the D2 that hit it this time around. We have hit this tot lot many times.

All I can say is this : I found almost the identical pendant. It fooled me big time. Stick a magnet on it. Take it in to a pro.

First thing I do is the magnet test. It is not magnetic.

One of my reliable tests has been are the links solid, or do they have a break. In all cases, for me, only real gold & silver have had solid links. A couple of other notes are that the weight feels right. About like holding a piece of lead of the same size. It is also very pliable. It bends easily. If it is a fake, it is one of the best, but why I can't find a stamp is weird. The sides look as if it were cast from a mold rather than cut from a sheet. You can see little dimples or imperfections rather than a smooth surface. Almost like it was homemade from a sand mold.
