Ok, just had a repressed 440 memory. It's been about a year since I've used mine. Hit the "horseshoe" button to enable all metal mode if you think the target you are swinging over may be sketchy. If you hear that iron grunt mixed in with the higher tone, you are most likely over an iron target that is giving you a false signal. Granted, you could also be swinging over a coin that is underneath of a rusty old nail as well. I don't think there is a perfect formula, but all metal mode does give you an additional data point some of the time.

Yes, for sure. When you get one of those many (18-24) or however your nails are mainly ringing up and you hit All Metal and DON'T get the Low Grunt... you might well have something of interest (penny, token, etc.) After you have been going for 2 or 3 hours and all you are getting is 18-24, you are going to be excited when that 25-27 comes up!! Now, of course, it could be lots of things besides a Dime... but maybe not! Get a 29-30, start praying for a nice, old Quarter! Enjoyable Thread... I can't wait for this Snow & Freeze to back off!
