I made it out this evening for the first hunt of 2026. It was only for an hour and half. I stopped at my first spot (Huntings) just to scratch and itch around a spot that was grown up at the end of last season. They mowed that portion of the field in November , but I was busy deer hunting and the grass was still a bit high. With the snow cover knocking it down all winter and now the sun finally melting it free I could cover the area I wanted. Unfortunately it was uneventful so I moved on further up the road to another spot I got permission late in the year last October or November. My first hunt there I found a beat up half penny and a SLQ. I've been thinking about that spot all winter long. It still has more snow than open patches, but there was enough open spots to pick my way through just to say I made it out for a little bit.

I managed to find really beat up Wheatie that I can't get a date from yet and a flat button still having thread and cloth in the shank.

Had a bit of time to kill. Went back to the same site as last night with the small coil around the old tavern cellar hole. Very noisy , but did manage a few relics. Possibly an old butt plate to a muzzle loader?

Super quick, lazy hunt today. I had an unexpected day off from work, it was 60 degrees so I felt guilty if I didn't at least give it a try. I only did a couple lines in Jerry's field. Around the old house I found .36 worth of clad and just tractor and farming implement trash. Nothing excited to report.

Made it out this afternoon for a couple hours. Found a piece of a bell, strange coin (either foreign or monopoly money), a dog license tag from 1973 , 1 Lincoln , first ox knob of the year and a tiny button with shank.

I hunted SG at the elbow and Huntings tag and button were found at SG’s. Snow has completely melted. I was shocked not to find another coin. Must’ve been extremely lucky last year to pull SLQ and Half penny in a couple hour hunt. Huntings seems like I’ve covered a great part of it. Need to get Permission again this year from PB to hint tavern site.
