Last Saturday I recovered a ring for a lady and found a 1904 barber dime in the same location!
Now here's the kicker!
After that I detected a different playground and found what I thought was a brass butterfly necklace.
Well today I looked closer and it's marked 750! THATS 18K!
SO I
acid tested it and it passes!!!
It weighs 18.97 grams!
That's $1400!!:dingding::woohoo:I was going to throw it into my junk jewelry drawer!

Great find!

The key to identifying possible gold or silver in the field is to look for solid links. Not the pressed together, but links with no breaks.

Yes, at first blush that does appear to be costume jewelry. So I can see how you would have at first thought costume jewelry. But nice score that it turned out to be gold.
Yep, I started acid testing with 10k, then 14k!, wow!, then 18k and the gold was still there!
