I took a little trip to hunt the other day. I found another V nickel (1901) and a few wheats. Also found these cool buttons.
Please help me identify the buttons. The button with some gold gild still on it is a Scovill. On the back it reads "Scovill MFG Co Waterbury". On the front I can make out Massachusetts, maybe it's a Massachusetts National Guard unif button? The anchor button is got to much crud/rust on the back to read anything if it's even there.
The buttons were both near churches but not the same church. If these are for sure military buttons makes me think of military funerals at church or soldiers coming home and go to church. Fun to think about.

Nice Mass militia button! Is the other one a one piece? If it is ... probably rev war navy
I need to look a bit closer to the back of the anchor button. Unfortunately I was trying to clean out the loop shank and broke it off. There is rust on back of button.

Crazy that a Massachusetts militia button would find it's way to the edge of a Oklahoma sidewalk next to an old church.

So does anyone have any ideas of the time frame of the Mass button?

The anchor disc could be related to the merchant marines. Might be a collar disc? If there's rust on the back, then probably not older than WWI.
