Has anyone heard when Troy is going to come out with their new detector. I hear they quit making the X5 and X3. Sounds like they're shooting themselves in the foot with this large gap between models.

They have been rumored to be getting something ready for the last 7 months or so. I have no concrete evidence as to what. However , I feel it will be in the spring. Beware , although the X3 and X5 are great detectors , you can get a Tesoro that will perform as well for less.

I would never consider buying a Troy detector over a White's or Garrett. I believe that they have not proven anything worthy of recognition. That's just my two cents.

Troy is the only light weight land detector that I know of that can hunt in a driving rain storm. While most would not do that, here in Houston I've been caught in too many heavy showers. I would never take my Garretts (2500, Ace 250) out in those conditions even with a rain cover.

Also, do the other detectors have a lifetime warranty?

Those were the two reasons I decided to get one. It didn't hurt that most of the top end coin hunt participants in the two clubs I belong to seem to have a Troy.

In the right soil conditions I have found .22 shells at 6" and quarters at 12" with the stock coil.
