Trigger guard? Epaulettes?? some civil war finds

Another day on the civil war campsite. 3 nice 3 ringers, camp lead, a button back and 2 mystery items.

I think the first is a trigger guard... but it is iron and I thought most were made of brass. Any help with the ID on this?

The second I think is a piece of a epaulette, brass and I believe I saw one similar online, although now I don't seem to be able to find an example. Any help on this ID?

Nice saves. It looks like a trigger guard to me also. But I could be wrong.

I think it was the Springfield rifle that had an iron trigger guard.

You have a piece of an epaulet which is one of many scales that drop down from the shoulder piece itself. And yes that is a trigger guard. Congrats on the finds.
