Friend of mine owns several hundred acres of land. It has old slave houses on it. Was part of Virginia before west Virginia was a state. Civil War battles fault in that area also.He has an old detector from the 80s and was wanting to try my at max. Loaned to him last week and decided to go down today and hunt . Walk through his door and the first thing he shows me is a 1700 Something large cent he found. lolHe also found a nice broach . Finds this stuff in his backyard of all the places. Lives in a log cabin and part of it used to be an old ice house. Where the slave house was, he was plowing there and found a large cent several years ago. He hopped on the tractor with the Brushhog and up over the hill we went. Clear it off about a quarter acre ground of grass. That silver disk thing I thought I had a silver coin for sure. Turns out it is a button of some kind. Found 3 more buttons and the smallest thimble I have ever seen.
