Guessing it was on edge as the VDI and 2d screen on my Manticore did not lead me to believe I was about to dig another silver dime. I don't remember the number exactly but I think it was in the low 80's and the graph was not a perfect dot. First try with my shovel the ground felt like concrete. We have not had a good soaking rain in a few weeks here in South Jersey. I weigh about 270 lbs and standing on my shovel only half the blade would penetrate the ground so I had to get on my hands and knees and pick axe the dirt to find what I thought would be trash. When I got a clump of hard packed dirt in my hand that contained the target, I crumbled it to see a shiny reverse of a beautiful Mercury dime. I'm surprised I did not hit it as I was being careless. She was only about 5 inches down, my pinpointer is laying on an angle in the hole in the picture I posted. In the last two months I have now found 2 mercs, a flying eagle, a Indian, and a few wheats from this property that was supposedly picked clean with my Manticore.

Found this tiny button with shank but I can't make out what it is. Has a back marker on it with some numbers too.

I am now going to start digging more iffy signals after finding this dime at this property. Especially some deep low VDI's I have passed on.

Congrats on the surprise merc! It seems like you and the MC are bonding together nicely as you have found some real nice finds as of lately. I hear you about the concrete ground, for the past two days I had to leave behind a couple of 87/88 deep possible quarter signals. The only way I would have gotten them out is with a backhoe or a jack hammer. John

Thank you! Yeah I enjoy this detector a lot. I spend whatever time I can watching videos and reading to learn as much as I can. My hunting time is limited because I have a young one who is not interested in detecting so I have to juggle family time as not to angry my other half.

We got some nice rain today so hopefully it doesn't dry out by tomorrow so I can go back and try to find more.

Very nice! Surprise silver is a very good surprise! You have a great site there, and you are wise to dig those iffy signals. Never know what could come out next! Congratulations!

Thank you! I am still running Rattlehead's silver shooter program. I just looked at the tread where he posted pics of the 2d graph showing traces running from ferrous to non-ferrous. I had a few signals like that but passed on them, will be going back for them soon.

Congrats on the Merc. Just about the coolest coin minted. The button is very cool as well. I know it's pretty bad, but maybe electrolysis will bring out some more detail. Well done.

Congrats on the Merc and button aj. The Merc is in great shape. The ground here is dry and rock hard also. Gonna be a long dry summer. Good luck. Mark
