Not sure what this could be. First reaction was some part to a door lock, latch piece, etc. Ran it through electrolysis and was able to reveal a 77 at the top. This came off a site that originates to the late 1850s and saw some sort of at least farm activity until the 1960s. This piece was found near the house with other household relics.

Tell me it’s old and cool! Thanks in advance!

That is an adjustment clamp for a piece of farming equipment. The 2 ears in the third picture fit over the outside edge of a strip of metal with a slot running down the middle. The round boss would fit into the slot. All three features are to keep it from rotating on the strip or rail.

Any idea on a date range on something like that?

It is hard to date something that you have no clue what it is. This isn't Oak Island. Interesting piece though.
I'm very aware it is hard to assign a date range to something that you don't know what is........that is why I posted it. However mudwhale seemed pretty confident in his assessment of the item so I was curious if he would maybe know a possible date range.

Oak Island is full of facts and transparency Kansashunter, how dare you! :D

My guess 1800's to the 1950's. They started making mechanized farm equipment in the early 1800's. The "77" on that one is classic 1800's style.
Yeah that’s what I was figuring, probably in that 1880s range. Thank you mudwhale!
