As I mentioned in another thread, my on/off button quit working on my detector. Sent it in to Garrett, they did a great job, fast turnaround, and I now have a new coil, cable, and top control box all up to date!
Had a chance yesterday to try out my machine, worked as good as ever. I did get permission at three yards. The first home was built in 1911, nice big yard and great lady homeowner. She said that the yard may have been detected before she bought the house, as she knew the previous owners, and turned out she was right. In a couple of hours of searching I only found one old coin, squeeked out a 1918-S Merc Dime. Other than that, just clad quarters and dimes and a few copper cents and not even a wheat cent! The only other old target was a cool brass hose nozzle.
The next permission was a home built in the early 1920s, corner lot though not huge. Nice elderly lady, got the ok for the whole yard. She told me that about 4 years ago a couple of guys came thru with their detectors and did the yard and curb. I always enjoy a challenge and while I didn't pull any silver, I did get 4 wheat cents back to 1924-D, a couple of old buttons, and a few clad quarters, dimes, and copper Memorials.
Caught the next door neighbors as they came home, 1951 home with fairly small yard, but I did find 5 more wheat cents and some modern clad coins, along with a Bowling Alley token of some sort. Also found was a rifle slug, part of an old aluminum baby food spoon handle, and a few odds and ends. Probably not much to warrant a story, but was happy to have gone out, had to quit about 1 pm as it was getting hot. Oh... and I did get a 1989-S Proof Jefferson Nickel in change, also shown. Thank you for your interest!
