Today was a pretty good day of hunting. I returned to one of my past favorite sites and found an area where the grass and weeds were mowed down. If not, the vegetation would have been past my knees to my hips in height and to think about the ticks that were just waiting to strike. So the area that I hunted was limited to about a about an 80' square. After about three hours my battery died so I had to call it quits.

Working it slow and steady, I found two mercs a '34 and '43-S both were in the 8" depth range. And I also recovered two Buffaloes a '36 and a unknow date. Incidentally, I had probably been over this area about 173 times in the past and as good luck would have it, these coins came back to life today.

These two silvers bring my fty total to 17.

Thanks for checking out today's finds!

Beautiful coins leave-no, those are on my bucket list, well, I guess everything is on my bucket list! Way to go!
Thanks Argento! As deep as those merc were, both came out of the ground in pretty good condition. Good luck with your bucket list too! And thanks for checking out my thread!

Two of my favorite coins, Merc's and Buff's. Congrats on a pair of each John. And on #s 16 & 17 FTY. Sounds like the Manticore is working out for you. Good deal. Do you charge up after each outing? It should last longer than that even running HC. Ground here has dried up already and I fear my yard hunting is over till fall. Good luck. Mark

I think some of these finds are a touch of beginners luck with a new machine. It seems we have tendency of digging more of those iffy signals as we learn the machine and as a result it's paying off. But clearly, I have to say, I'm am really enjoying this rig from the learning curve, to fine tuning the settings and now the resulting finds.

As for the battery going down, I find it goes down fast for the way I'm using. I was actually testing it to see how long the battery lasts before needing a recharge, so far it seems I can get about 7.5 hours with HC and full brightness which I need in the bright sun for the screen, which results in about two half days in the area of 3 to 3.5 hours to be on the safe side. Now I'm do some preliminary research for an auxiliary power pack. Another thing, I sure do miss not being about to sync my bone conduction headphones to this MC!

Yeap, the ground is getting hard and dry here too. I had to leave a few of the deeper targets because of it. Mark, keep digging and lets keep finding! John

Sweet. That’s inspiration to hit those favorite spots again. Nice saves for the day and collection.
Thanks FLOOD! I was definitely blown-away by my finds yesterday. And like I have said in the thread, I've been over this area countless number of times with different coils and swinging in different directions. I think I now need a longer blade shovel. Thanks again for your good comments! John

Well done,. Just goes to show no place is ever hunted out.
Thanks hoser! For sure there is truth to that old saying! And what a difference another day makes and with a new machine as to rework it too. I was saying to myself, I only wished the soil was moist whereby I feel the signals would really come to life. I appreciate your comments! John

I'm jealous, I've never gotten a date off of a Buffalo Nickel! Grats on the great finds!
Thanks Sorthious! It was a crazy day for sure. I can't remember the last time I found two buffs in one day. This hunt may have been an anomaly but I can't wait to hunt my next site! Thanks kind words but with the same breath, you have made some fantastic finds yourself recently too! John

Nice finds my friend! I ordered a Bluetooth transmitter that plugs in the headphone jack after watching Iffy Signals utube channel where he hooked it up to the X-terra pro. I wanna be able to wear ear buds under a large hat when I am beach hunting or just in the high heat where I don't want my ears swimming in sweat with the ML-105s. I will let you know how it works out.

Congrats again!

Thanks aj0421! I hear what you are saying about the wearing the 105s at the beach or for that matter anywhere when it really gets hot and sunny. Actually, that was one the main reasons that made me hold off from buying the MC months ago in the first place. But that's history now. :cool3: Anyway, I hope the BT transmitter system works for you as it sounds like a good work-around option. I look forward to your feedback. Thanks again!

No problem, for $29 I figured it is worth a try.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BXKTN986?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1 PM if the link doesn't work John. Although a PIA to have to charge yet another device this works well with my earbuds and Tayogo bone conductors . Yes I forgot about needing the backlight. I bought a power bank way back when for the 800 but never needed it. What did Ol' Clint say in one of his movies. " A mans got to know his limitations " At least now you what what to expect. Good luck. Mark

Thanks Mark...so ironic you mentioned that specific transmitter device. I had that on my wish list many years ago for when I had a Tesoro Tejon...lol, but I never bought it and sold the machine too. Thank goodness things are wireless now-a-days! For me I keep the backlight on the self adjusting brightest level if not its like a dark screen at least for me. :( For now I'm going to try to live with the big Mickey mouse style proprietary headphones. (thanks ML) If it gets to be too hot/ uncomfortable I may have to go with the additional transmitter route as you and aj0421 mentioned.

Now on the positive side of things, I can't wait to go out again tomorrow and dig some deep holes! All-in-all, I'm really enjoying this new machine even with its shortcomings! John

PS. Dirty Harry, Magnum Force was a darn good classic movie too!

Hello John, I got my transmitter today, and it works. I hooked it up and tested it in the house. I will try to test it outside to see how the latency is. The unit is small. I may sew a piece of velcro to the back of my cover or might see if somebody at my work can make a 3d printed housing that I can hook it onto my shaft with a longer stereo cord. (The included cord is very short, like 3")
