Yesterday I found this odd bent over
object at
a field path in North England. It is
not iron or steel.I thought ot could be
silver . But in the display of my ACE250
it shows within the coin range.
Looking more carefully you can see it
has serrated teeth.Therefore I guess
it was some kind of cutting blade ...?

I believe that is the end of a metal tube that contained an adhesive type material with the consistency of toothpaste. I have a tube such as this somewhat still in tact. The serrated edges were the method utilized in the binding of the dispensing end to the jacket during manufacturing. Crimping & pressing technique was used to create the seal. Date unknown, I will dig mine from the hoards of treasure I have accumulated and share my example if I remember, when I get time. The end actually had a threaded cap to seal/reseal after use.
