Still deciding to sell my Explorer

I have made a few posts concerning Cibola vs. Explorer. I have a re-worked, like brand new Explorer XS. Since getting into the Tesoros, I haven't used the Minelab. As I have mentioned before, Rhuematoid Arthritis sometimes limits my "stamina". However, on some days, I'd be able to use the Explorer(on good days). I don't want to sell something, only to regret it later. In reality, what would the Explorer be able to find that the Silver or Cibola wouldn't. I'm weighing the "bells and whistles" over the "simplicity and practicality". I was almost at the "comfort" level of learning with the Explorer when I sent it off to be fixed. That's when I started using the Tesoros. I'm just thinking about the benefit of 28 frequencies, visual reference, perhaps deeper depth, and maybe a little better idea of target depth. Or not???

HI

Hi, those are things to ponder on. We are still in the market for one. I've been looking on Ebay. Sounds like it is nice that you have some back up incase one is on the blink! Can't go wrong there!

Thanks, X.

This machine has a new housing with 1/4" jack, new cable, new coil, new upper and lower shaft, and was technically "checked out" by Minelab. I saw nothing wrong with the old coil, but they called me and said it had a small, intermittent "short" in it. I told them to put a new one on. I never got the old one back. Basically, this machine looks like a new Explorer II, but is actually an XS in a II "body". I only tried it out when I got it back, and it hasn't been in the field since. I thought 500.00 would be a fair price, if I sold it, and I would ship for free. I have alot more than that invested. But it is a great machine.

I would plant a small test garden and try both machines out side-by-side. I have never use an Explorer but most posters say it is one of the best. I would expect that a machine like the Explore that costs 2-3 X as much as either Tesoro would perform better. I expect that the Explorer may a bit deeper, but with Rhuematoid Arthritis do you really need the extra depth?

That's kinda my point.....Mostly where I relic hunt, the stuff isn't very deep. And, as you said, I don't know if I would want it if I had to do more digging. I found alot of nice relics last winter with the tesoro, and seemed to get very good coverage. don't think I missed much due to depth.

minereader, the best advise i can give you is go with the one you are more confident with {kinda open answer huh} also with your arthritis you may be better off with the cibola since it is so light. i went through something similar to what you are going through when i got my tesoro tejon i thought about selling my XLT and after using the tejon for a bit i started getting frustrated with it and almost got rid of it and kept the XLT,after more time in the field with the tejon i realized it had great ability and was deeper than my xlt so i kept both and use my tejon for the old home sites and places with out alot of trash and use my XLT to hunt around occupied homes, parks and what not. as far as depth alot of good finds are made shallow. id say learn both machines the best you can and then decide,i think youll find both machines will have there uses and you may just decide to keep em both.

Yep, good point.

Considering the fact that, if I sold the Explorer, I would probably regret it, even if I never use it, you're right. There will come a time when I take both out and do a field comparison. And I don't need the money for the sale. Thanks..
