We got hammered by winter here a week or so ago, three feet of snow and no power for a week. Been heading down the hill for some non-snowy ground and that means Rosie Fields to me. I've hit this place a lot over the years, and it's a great peaceful place to hunt. I swear I've been over this area this Merc came from more than once or four times maybe 8...?

6 clad dimes, 2 copper cents, 8 zincolns that just had wide ID's, 1 nail, half a screw, 5 pull tabs of various types.

Anyway, can't believe I pulled my second Merc from this spot, a nice clean 1943 too, a spot that gave up 18 Rosie's to date, and 2 Mercs, so 20 silver dimes from this location so far over the years.

Also found two cool girl scout pins in the same hole, and a neat old pen knife another hunt or two back.

It's good to get out when I can, happy hunting :)

Great finds! How deep would you say the mercury was in the ground?

I was wondering if you got caught in that mess. Glad to see it is behind you GS. This is some weird weather we've been having, yous guys get pounded with snow meanwhile here in Pa. we got sun and 50s in February. Another thing is the wind, way more high winds than I can ever remember. Well hopefully the melt will ease the water shortage. Anyway congrats on the Merc, apparently still alot more targets there. Sounds like you're getting into the deeper stuff. Pretty soon it'll be Barber dimes your pulling out of there. Good luck. Mark

Very Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Very nice indeed. Mercs rule! Ya'll did have some nasty weather out your way for sure. But the upside is it put a lot of moisture back in the ground making targets you may have missed to start showing up. Well done.

Thanks Mark. It was 7-8" best guess. I cut the plug w/ the Lesche, and had to dig down another inch or two. It was in a round clod that came out.

Thank you Mark. The former school on this site isn't that old, but I did find a buff and some old relics/items, so who knows. I will keep going back when and as I can!

Great finds! Congrats!

Thank you!

Congrats on the merc, Jeff! The knife is cool, too. :cool3:

Thank you Garrett. I thought the knife was pretty neat too. I looked w/ the pinpointer for the blade, as it looks like the larger of the two was opened when it was lost. No luck.

Very Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Thank you Digger :)

Very nice hunt!
I love mercs.
HH!
Tom

Appreciated Tom. I love Mercs too, such a beauty of a coin.

Nice Merc. The Girl Scout badge is cool too.

Thank you! I liked finding the two girl scout items in the same hole, but the eagle/GS one is my favorite. Matches, well, sorta, a boy scout eagle one I found a few hunts ago there.

Nice job Jeff! Glad you survived the blizzard!

Jeff! Good to hear from you. I am glad most of the snow is GONE! Honestly hope that's it for the season too LOL. I'm pretty sure I saw you driving by MP awhile back, hope you're finding stuff there still. You sure had some eye opening amazing finds over there.

Thanks Hoser, yes, the wet grounds is a lot easier to dig in too along w/ the possible added depth gain!

You said you were over that area several times without digging this Merc. The answer my friend is you found the right angle this time. Congrats Jeff on adding this Merc to your coffers. Trapper

Thank you Trapper. I really like that "found the right angle" phrase, so true.
