Spring is finally here!

Was out yesterday with my local MD club, and I think it's safe to say, spring has finally sprung in my part of Both Wales.

We had a few brief showers but generally the weather was sunny, the scenery beautiful and to cap it all,the fields were full of ewes and lambs enjoying the sun shine.

The fields did not produce a huge amount, a smattering of Vicky silvers, three rather mangled Romans and three hammered, of which I was lucky enough to find the one below.

All in all a very pleasant day, and hopefully a taste of the summer to come.

I am blessed to live in a small town where I am only a few minutes drive from some really lovely country side.

The coin is an Edward penny, although I'm not sure whether it's Edward 1st, 2nd or 3rd as the coins from those reigns are all fairly similar...Regardless, it means the coin likely dates back to
the early to mid 1300's...When I take it into the museum the archeologist should be able to tie down further...

I had a few other Georgian and Victoria bits, including a (sadly) nearly blank Vicky silver sixpence, so yeah it was very enjoyable!

Actually, I am desperate to find a pre 1100 hammered, but it's not likely in my part of the UK
