Last weekend I was having a great day. Digging lots of good things. There were a lot of nails, so a couple of holes where just iron falseing. I dug a hole thru the dirt out of the hole. Check the hole than checked the loose dirt. Just iron nails. I moved on. I was walking a grid. On my pass back I look ahead and I see a ball of fresh dirt with a copper in it. It was about three feet from the hole I dug on the past before. Sloppy! If I had thrown the dirt the other way I wouldn’t have seen it. I guess I’d rather have dumb luck than no luck at all.
Thankfully, you found it at last! Sometimes we just have to learn from our mistakes (and in that way, even mistakes can be a blessing). What kind of copper is it?
It was toasted. Most of the coppers that have come out of this site are toasted. I’ll take them anyway they come out of the ground. Most of the ones I can ID are KG2’s.
