Tried out a new spot a couple days ago. It's a small pocket park that sits on the edge of the Mohawk River. There's a sloped grassy area that flattens out and then runs along a concrete barrier that stands about 8 feet above the waterline. Over the years, people have fished from the spot, had picnics, walked dogs, etc. I found a handful of clad, nothing old, and then got a good tone on the Legend, with a 41 VDI. Only down about an inch or so I saw something good sized shining. Pulled out a Timex watch attached to a very nice Sterling Silver watch band. I found the exact same one online made by a company called Silver Star Jewelers, $175. Watch isn't working, but I haven't swapped out the battery yet. It would be easy enough to put the band on another ladies watch. I don't find a lot of jewelry, so the silver watch band is a nice find. The other interesting item is a 1938 NYS Dog License. This also rang up in the upper 40s, and was partway up the grassy slope, about 4 inches into the earth. It cleaned up pretty good for being more than 80 years old. I've only found a couple other old dog licenses, so this one is a nice addition.
