Been awhile! Was able to get out for 2.5 hours today after not hunting since March :roll:Dusted off the old equinox and went to a drawn down stream that has produced in the past. Today didn't disappoint. I hunted the main area I've had the most success at fpr about 45 minutes with little to show. I decided to pack up and drive across the street, which leads to the opposite side of the river. I started swinging there and not 10 minutes later a pair of guys are swinging right where I just was. Shortly after I get an IHP signal only a few inches down and dead center in the middle of the trail. I thought it would be a freshly dropped lure or clad, but it was a missed 1889 IHP

I made it about 100 yards down the shoreline with nothing but a recently dropped pair of prescription glasses, and noticed my company had already left. I decided to circle back to the truck myself at that point. Zig zagging along the rocks and mud, I hit what sounded like a tiny lure type signal, and it wasn't deep, so I for sure thought a trout spoon of sorts. Colorado, buoyant, little tigers, they are all over this area. To my surprise, a tiny silver disk popped out. I immediately noticed it was very thin and dark, dark gray from being in the water for the past 200+ years. A quick rinse revealed an 1788 half Reale, Mexico City minted

I did find a piece of Spanish across the river a year or two ago, so it's definitely out there. Just a tough spot to hunt really. Hoping to get out more now that the temps are dropping and the bugs are dying down. Good luck out there, and happy hunting!

Congratulations on your hunt! Two nice old coins is always a good hunt. That IHP will clean up nice and you can already see the nice green patina beneath. And finding Spanish silver is always a thrill! Excellent find! When I find something like that my mind wanders to what the coin has seen and where it has been.

Glad you got out again after a break and go back to finding cool stuff!

That's Not! An American coin!

Way to go Jeff, nice score on the half reale and Ihp. Congrats and glad to see you got out, even a short hunt is better than no hunt. That silver is only 100 years older than my oldest silver. Jeez, would love to find a reale, hell I'd be happy with a capped bust. Good luck on your return. Mark

A very nice outing Jeff. Huge congrats on the Reale and the Indian. Both would be rare for me to recover. Like you I don't get out any to often these days but have some hope for a few outings yet this year. Trapper
