But somehow a hole appeared in my schedule and the rains never came so I went out and got a short hunt in! There's an old house up at the head end of the road into the RV Park. It appears on a map I have from 1935 in the same place it is today. It just so happens that I was able to get permission to hunt it AND learned a bit about it's history from the great grandson of the owner. It seems that this house was built in the 1920's up nearer the Levee but when they were putting in a new road sometime between when it was built and 1935, it was moved to where it is now by rolling it on logs of all things! No one lives in it now but it was apparently occupied until the early 2000's.
Enough history lesson for now, I always look for challenging sites and this one did not disappoint. I had hit it once before with my Equinox 800 but even with the 6 inch coil the trash in the ground drove the 'Nox to fits. I only got one quarter for my efforts that time so I was ready for a rough go. But happily the CTX held it's own in this trashy ground and pulled out some decent finds. And the two Mardi Gras tokens were a pleasant surprise, rang in just like a Quarter with a good solid hit and no deviation but they pinpointed like a Silver Dollar! I was sure hoping for Silver but I'll take the Tokens any day. Gotta get back there with the 6 inch on the CTX soon, and I'll have my external mics for my camera. so I'll likely do a video!
