Question for all you warm water beach pirates

I found a meter that took change not long ago. Put $16 dollars in quarters in it. It rejected them and shot a third of them on the ground. Lol!
Most of beaches around here start charging summer rates April 1st... where I was finding quite a few gold last spring, I went there April 1st they said, you can use the beach for $60 for the day... I left... We don't have meters here its a straight charge at the gate... ever since covid beaches stopped out of towners from using their beaches... I know of one guy who tried hunting a beach and he wasn't from that town, he was given a ticket for $105 dollars... when you find a couple of pennies and a nickel that ticket must hurt lol...

Wait- you mean titanium and stainless steel rings have no scrap value? I guess I have to rethink retirement. Target composition has changed for sure over the years. Parking averages me about 10-12 dollars a time plus gas. Cheaper than a gym membership.

I don't ever remember paying to get on a beach, of course our beaches in Mi. don't get hit near as much as other states, plus our weather stinks, with such long Winters !

Well that has changed to a point. We have what is known as a license passport "P" on the yearly sticker. It costs an additional $11 when you get you new tags. To us it is well worth the cost as we go to quite a few places that require it, or you have to pay a day use fee. Our boat launches are primarily run by the DNR and it is, I think $4 just to put your boat in. Cost nothing with the passport.

WOW! Does that come with a kiss or at least a fruit basket. That's crazy.:jawdrop::blink:

California beaches are fully public access and free to get on. You may have to pay to park depending where you go. This is much like Hawaiian beaches.

Nope...unless you are resident of the town... you are not allowed until after October... ever since Covid many towns changed the rules who are allowed at their beaches... keeps out the riff raff

You guys are funny. Watch the news , utube springers , etc...and you think the beaches are laden with gold based on the sheer #s.🤣. Lots of things to consider. Don't be blinded by beauty ! The majority of people on the beach under 35 aren't wearing gold. If anything , it will be titanium , tungsten , silver , silicon rings , etc. All junk. Of course there are recent gold drops , but not in #s. Reports , videos from out here with mega gold are all older finds. 20 , 30 , 40+ years old. When more people wore it and it was cheaper. The storms bring it in from offshore. Totally different economics and demographics now.
Same in fresh water Wading. Ive been water hunting for 28 years. up to about ten years ago I was avg about 18 gold an about the same in silver each summer. now ive only found one gold ring in ten years an only about an average of four silver rings. an several S.S. tungs. titanium. But I still love Water hunting.

Don't bother hunting the beach's near where I live due to expensive parking, too many local hunters and the fact that I have lived a brisk five minute walk from the water and have removed most of the keepers over the past 50 years or so and I'm still hunting for the rest!!!

All the best to you all fellow hunters,

CJ

I meant to say Avg about four silver rings an several S.S. tungs titanium every summer. but for as gold, One in ten years. I have found several gold ear rings an ear studs in ten years.

X2
Add that and even clad numbers are way down due to parking meters no longer taking coins. Everything paid with apps & credit cards.
Your right. 2 hours of hunting, $1.74, 2 junk rings from Claires, and unlimited supply of pulltabs and bottle caps.

Some of the counties along the Great Lakes have started charging for parking at the beaches and very few have any parking that is within reasonable walking distance for free... Muskegon County; can pay daily or yearly.. Better have a smart phone or credit card as they don't take cash...PIA

Best Lake Michigan beach near me charges $15 for out of county residents.
But you can get a season pass for $40.

That is a pretty good deal. I go two or three times a week in season.

Not much to find right now unless you want to go into the water and it is COLD!
