Im in Crawford County. Ill send you a few pNice find! What size is it? I cannot find a close match in my reference book, but my feeling is 1700s. Doesn't seem stout enough for a shoe. Looks like either a sash or belt buckle. I will do some more research. Anything found near it for association?
I see you are from NW PA. My father's side were among the first settlers of McKean County around Smethport. They received land grants as part of their Revolutionary War Soldier's Pensions. that was the frontier then.
Thank you. I do believe it's older than Nouveau, but that's why I'm here. Thank you again brotherNice find.
But not from the 18th century .
Art Nouveau belt/sash buckle.![]()
Their ain’t no carbine buckles with floral patternsCivil war era carbine sling buckle is what I'm turning up. Mid 1800s maybe? Maybe.
What's the context of the find? Got any meaningful dates on the site you found it at?
It was a quick image search. Everything that came up was exactly that but I don't specifically know carbine buckles in detail hence saying maybe. Honestly civil war anything isn't my cup of tea simply because it's not something I find in my neck of the woods.Their ain’t no carbine buckles with floral patterns![]()
