Greetings to the entire Metaldetectingforum community !

I need to buy an inexpensive pinpointer and I have narrowed down the list to these models: GP Pointer version 1, GP Pointer version 2, TC-110.

I was thinking of discarding the GP Pointer 2 because it might be too sensitive for the use I need to do with it (find metal pipes under the roof tiles at max 10 cm, but without detecting the electrowelded mesh that is drowned in the cement screed underneath at about 15 cm).

I have no experience in this matter and I need an advice: which would be more suitable between the GP Pointer version 1 and the Tanxunzhe TC-110 ? I would prefer the TC-110 but I am afraid that even this device may be too sensitive and detect the electrowelded mesh ...

I hope somenone can help me. Thank you.

glpoint welcome. That is a tough one. Are the pipes made from copper or mild steel? Copper MAY be easier to locate as it could give a stronger signal. Good luck on your quest

I don't think regular metal detecting pinpointers are right tool for this job. Just did a quick search and found this link:

Which basically recommends a nonmagnetic stud finder, this is the one they recommend:

This one might be useful too:

I'm sure there are other stud finders that will also work at finding copper pipes but this should be a good start for your search.

Hi Hoser. Yes, my request is a bit particular and not easy to satisfy.

The pipes could be either copper or steel.

I already have a Bosch GMS-120 detector and I am not very satisfied with the performance: the detection depths stated in the manual are not met in real use and the detection is limited to a very small angle.

Pinpointers have the advantage of being inexpensive and quite reliable, small and handy, but most importantly they detect both at the tip and around 360 degrees.

But what made me lean toward pinpointers and the GP Pointer in particular is the ability to detect through masonry, as seen in this video, which is what I am looking for ...

Ah! I completely missed the part about concrete in your original post. I have a gp-pointer and it wasn't the most sensitive and in the video they're using a pretty big piece of metal. If the pipes you're trying to detect are big and you only need it to go down 15cm it might work for what you need it for.

I'd say order it from amazon and if it doesn't work just return it.

All detectors will detect through masonry, is there anyway to borrow a regular metal detector and then lay down a piece of screed sweep across that so you know what that sounds like then put a piece of pipe on it and see if you can hear a difference

I have a gp-pointer ...
Can you please tell me if in version 1 of GP Pointer it is possible to disable the sound and leave only the vibration on ?

Thanks for the advice, I will take into account
