TY. Throughout the years I've hit every BIG beach here. But within each city there are some smaller , less known "mini beaches" or coves that I haven't touched. And for certain I haven't hit it all the bay areas or lakes. That is now changing. Really studied old maps , aerials and historic photos. Finding good old pics with history behind them isn't easy. And I really disect them looking for clues to the Gold puzzle. Recently found a spot that others have hunted. But I noticed an old pic that had a platform barely noticeable. Others have found many of the old US coinage , but not aware of any Gold. Question will be if I can get out there to hunt it. Will see.

Years ago (2009/10) over on The TreasureDepot there were two guys that did the exact same thing in the MidWest. Tommy Boy and Chris, Goldinwater. They would research spots near colleges and forgotten swim holes of the locals...And not many were aware of the bunch of numbers next to every ones post... , which was the IP address. I watched them travel all over cleaning these places out..

Out of curiosity, how far are you willing to travel to hunt a beach?

I have access to a few beaches ranging from between 45 minutes and 1 1/2 hours away, but I can never get enthused enough to put the time in learning them...I have been a couple of times, but never even broke even on the parking! lol

I'm just returning from a 4 day hunt where I hunted 7-8 hours a day so you have my respect to be able to hunt like you did. I'm so friggin sore I can barely walk or close my swinging hand. LOL

Got any youtubers in that area? Some don't even delay their posts on youtube. And even if they do you can hunt the same beaches they do. After you learn a beach you can get the feel of when to go. Heavy rip currents in an area is an example. Recent video of a current posted hunt you can see what a beach looks like. Plus beach cam live feeds.

I used to be about a half hour from the beach and could drive an additional 1.5 hrs depending on traffic , so maybe 90 miles. Now I travel alot and depending where I'm staying could drive maybe 450 miles.

You just got to put in the time. Hit the beaches that have lots of people , preferably swimmers 1st , then go from there. Got to experiment.

For the most part , my body is conditioned to hunting beaches because I've done it so long. But when I don't go for say 3 or 4 months I break down as I get older. Realty broke myself down by getting sick and should have payed attention to what my body was telling me. Gold Fever tends to do that. Lol

Gold Fever seems to have away of over riding the body. Sometimes even causing sleep issues. Like having no problem going to bed from exhaustion then waking in less as 6 hours ready to rock & roll out the door to the Hot Spot. Multiple days too, which sounds like your gold run.

Back story : Beginning early last year , I did some serious research on a few old places. A few that I've never hunted before but close to other spots I have. Hunted over a 4 day period and recovered about 3.5 oz of Gold. All of which were never posted.

So last month and after more research I returned. But also hit some bays and lakes. Hunted 10 days straight. Anywhere from 4-10hrs each day. Spent a couple nights in my van on the productive spots I couldn't leave until they were torched. To the point where I ended up getting sick and cut my trip short. Took a full week to recover. I wanted to stay longer.

Hit many areas , some were barren and others , well....

These pics are from 2 of those days. The good stuff : 4oz silver and a little under 300 gr of GOLD. The biggie being a vintage solid 18k very rare watch , which is over 200 gr. Been doing alot of research on it. Approximately 400 made , estimated 80 known as many were melted over the last 50yrs. Problem is the guts are damaged and might cost me $4-5k to get repaired , IF parts can be found. Auction estimates are $35k+ from what I've been told....I dug a silver chain about 12" down that blew my ears off. Rescanned the big hole and got a large low tone another 6" down off to the side. I'm certain if I didn't dig that chain , I wouldn't have heard the watch by itself due to the conditions.

10 days straight, 4-10 hours each day, sleeping in your van, I'd have to say that you're definitely one of the OG's of detecting diehards.

Yeah buddy, Kix & Crack the Sky are 2 biggie bands from Maryland. I don't recall ever seeing Kix, but I took my wife to see Crack the Sky down in Dundalk when they played the Heritage Festival years ago.

Tennis team? hot Italian chick on top of your car? That reminds me of a bit of trivia. Did you know that Tennis is the only sport where you don't have to score to make love?

BTW, I think I wound up with that hot chick, wife's name is Cindy, lol.

Had a 83' 280zx. Silver ext , black int. Great fast car. Another one I wish I still had. Those are big collector cars now $$$. Gave it to the GF when we split up. And within a year she totaled it.

I loved the 280Z's in the early 80's, a guy I worked with and eventually became partners with had a red 280Z, loved to ride in that one. Before I went into the military, I had a 69' 302 Mustang with a 4-barrel Holley carb, headers, rear spring lifters, 60 series rear tires, Keystone Klassic rims. Back then, I REALLY wanted a 69' 302 Z-28, but the Mustang became available through an acquaintance, so I jumped on it, price was right.

Then, as I was preparing to enter the military, was trying to figure out what I was gonna do with the Mustang, as I was heading to Alaska and didn't think the Mustang would fair too well in sub-zero temps. My mom had a friend/coworker whose son was a mechanic, and he was interested in taking the Mustang off my hands. Hard to believe in retrospect, but I sold that Mustang to him for $800. Wish I still had it, would be worth a LOT more these days, lol.
