Noob finds antique axe head!

Dug an extremely old axe head on the same shuttered Air Field I found the dog tag. About a foot deep. Completely caked in rust.No maker’s mark or stamp. Soaked it in 130 degree white vinegar saturated with table salt for 36 hours then hit it with a brass brush. Wondering how old you all think it may be. Was definitely there before the Air Field. Definitely hand-forged. Before and after photos below.

Some grinding and sanding, the axe head has many more years of life left. Well done.

Thanks hoser, but sadly she’s done for. Look for the small curved crack in the top middle portion of the axe head (third photo). Probably why it was discarded
