All i want a is a detector that works, thats it. This machine can no longer touch salt water without freaking out. What the hell happened! This thing is a curse i swear. Time to send in for warranty for the 3rd time! Dam lemon.

Firsr legend coil went bad and speaker died all at once, 1 week of ownership. Second machine speaker died after 2 months of ownership, sent in for repair. Comes back from repair and now cant go near salt water. I give up. Nokta you win, you got me. I cant fight this fight anymore. Its ruining the hobby for me.

See for yourself

I am sticking my neck out here. I am not your enemy and I am not criticizing you. Just asking some questions.

Are you using the latest v1.11 software?
Are you ground balancing using Multi Wet separately from Multi Dry?
Have you tried the G or other discrimination patterns?
Have you experimented with the salt stability settings in conjunction with adjusting the sensitivity and recovery
speed settings?
Do you periodically remove the coil cover and clean the sand out of it?

When I was able to actually see the screen on your Legend, the 10 target ID was showing on the screen. That is the ID for salt ground noise.

In my area since I am ground based on higher iron mineralization, I get lots of 11 target IDs if I don't have my Legend tweaked for the current conditions especially if there has been fertilizer applied or if the ground is damp or wet. The same happens with my Equinox 800, 900 and Deus 2. Getting a good ground balance, recovery speed, iron filter and iron stability setting using the available land based programs usually helps lessen those false 11 responses along with not having sensitivity maxed out for the conditions where I am.

On the same ground, my Minelab Vanquish 540 and 440 were very quiet but only if I rejected at least the first few iron target IDs kind of like the Legend using the G discrimination pattern since the 540 and 440 could not ground balance internally to the high iron mineralization here.

My 540 and 440 were also extremely quiet with virtually no falsing at some South Carolina and Georgia saltwater beaches that I used them on. I have used my Legend on the same beaches after the original software update greatly improved saltwater beach performance. The Legend was sparky but controllable.

Thanks for reading.

I hope you are able to find a detector that works well for you and your hunting conditions.

I appreciate the advice. I have tried it all, i am rather well versed with the legend. Stability does nothing whether at 1 or 5 same issues. i always have it on G for dis pattern. IF is at 4 where i generally leave it, i am on v1.11. I ground balance mw and md, md works fine, no issues. Md is a little chirpy but its more sensitive and goes deep, so no complaints with dry. This happens at any beach i go to doesnt matter. I clean under the cover everytime i finish using it. Doesnt matter on recovery speed, no matter the setting issue remains. I keep recovery at 5 on wet and 7 on dry normally.

The worse part about this, it never did this before i sent my machine out for a speaker a repair.

So before the speaker died on your second Legend, Beach Mw and Beach Md were okay?

Ill add i have not been using MW since i have gotten it back from repair. People werent going in the water and i am finding all my rings and good finds on dry sand so i stuck to dry. I have used mw 3 times after i got it back, had the issues but chalked it up to maybe my settings are messed up or maybe this beach is worse than others etc, so i thought nothing of it. Now that people are going back in the water i decided to hit the water line and the shallow water at low tide and thats when i noticed this issue, and i realized this is not normal something is wrong.

Would be nice if you could get a different coil on your pod. I have a sneaky suspension it could be a coil/wire problem.
Pretty weird the detector works in other locations but not in water contact.

I looked for cracks in the coil housing and wiring as i thought the same thing. Couldnt find anything.

Time for another brand detector.
I wish i could, just spent 10k on my house so i cant justify spending another 1k on a nox 900 right now. I will just need to stick to dry sand. I put in a nokta support case for service but not too hopeful this will be resolved quickly or worse case not at all. They should just really replace my entire machine at this point, one that was built in the last 30 days and not on a Friday lol. @Nokta Detectors

Does sound like a possible coil. Excals have that issue a lot when the coil gets water in it. You can't usually see where it leaked in. It's just there. Actually Whites machines had a lot of coil failures at the beach. Wasn't really a good idea to keep pulling your coil cover off of them all the time.

The new version will be hitting the shelves soon with the lighter shaft and updated LG 30 coil. I would PM Dilek at NoktaDetectors on this site and ask for one of those as a replacement.

If its the coil this would coil #2 that has failed. I dunno, your guys guess is as good as mine. No idea whats going on. I reinstalled v1.11 again today cleaned everything, went out tonight, no luck, no change 😔. Couldnt even touch the wet sand without it freaking out.

Are you using Beach Multi Wet default settings?

For others that are viewing this topic, there are four very well respected saltwater beach hunters who currently use a Legend both on wet sand and submerged who have made several very good Youtube videos. They are Gigmaster, Detector Comparisons (Carter Pennington), Dirt Fish Mish and Ed from DetectEd. Not everyone is having issues.

For others viewing this topic.
Legend detector had speakers installed initially that seems to have high fail rate.
Some of these speakers have been replaced.
Units were not recalled.
So a few questions folks owning or buying one of these earlier produced units used should be wondering about.
Has manufacturer released a list of units by serial number that were affected? Don’t think so.
Has the manufacturer released a list of unit by serial number that indeed had faulty speakers changed?
How does a person look at a Legend unit and know if high fail speaker has indeed been replaced?

So folks buying used. Be mindful. I can’t even say for sure if any of the units made earlier with the faulty speakers are still on shelves somewhere. So could they show up at your doorstep when one orders Legend unit? IDK

Cheers.

Never bought a Turkish machine , but could have been , you needed to turn the sensitivity down , black sand, or even salt water , as the Nox to run smooth in the water , you need to hunt in Beach 2 instead of Beach 1 , happy hunting !
