Got out for an hour today found very little trash found a $1.16 -- 4 quarters, 1 dime, 1 nickel, and 1 penny. Temp was in the upper 50's! Likely to be more of the same temps tomorrow possibly going to another school ground that I haven't been to in ages. We'll see how that one turns out.

I do have a question about the AT Pro sometimes I get a very high tone that would be like in the '80s but nothing shows on the screen or I get another really good high tone and the number locks on 28 or 30 and tells me it's only 2 inches. I've never dug anything that low of a number. I don't know what that is. I don't know what to make of my metal detector doing that. I take the iron audio off and ground balance it and it seems to work good on finding the usual stuff pull tabs in the mid-range foil in the '40s and quarters every time in the upper '80s dimes in the low '80s and most pennies around 75 or 76. But I'm confused about the high tone readings in the upper twenties to low 30s. Or a high tone and my screen being blank. Any ideas on that please.

Happy New Year and good luck and happy hunting! No pics this time.

I'm in the same boat as Ghost. Lots of snow and very cold temps. Come on spring! Good going on you being able to get out.

Yeah... I don't think I'll be able to get out today....

Hi Pennyfinder! I have used my AT Pro for 9 years now, have never experienced what you describe. The target ID is rock solid, my numbers match what you are seeing... 86-87 for those clad quarters, 81-82 for clad dimes and copper memorials, and 75-76 for Zinc Cents. I run Pro Zero Mode, full sensitivity, with Iron Audio OFF.

That's the same mode I run Pro zero full sensitivity no iron audio and I see these signals in the upper twenties to low 30s everywhere I've just been ignoring them and only going for the usual signals that I know means coins for the most part - sometimes I get the occasional silver ring or jewelry.

I think you are doing the right thing by ignoring them. From my experience, those are iron numbers, if I remember about 35 and below would be iron. Also I get what I call an "iron grunt" when I pass over something like an old roofing nail or small iron object.

We're having a strange winter we've only had a few extremely cold days in the teens for lows But the last couple of days it's been in the '50s and only in the '30s at night

I pay attention to the better numbers but sometimes I get fooled and it'll be part of an aluminum can or a pull tab. They always give off a good signal. 😋

I figured that was what it might be. I just stay away from the low numbers figuring it's junk anyway.

I agree, for the curb strips and yards I detect, no low numbers for me. It would be different if I was in a large harvested bean field that used to be a Civil War camp, then I would dig everything!
