My 15" coiltec coil arrived yesterday so I strapped her on my Nox 800 and headed to a field in town that I have hunted over the years. I can't hardly believe that I found an 1837 NOT ONE CENT hard times token. This is the second one I have found this year and the fourth I have found so far.

Interesting find! It's nice to uncover something with an older date. Perhaps you could educate me on the item, though; what would have been the purpose of these hard times tokens? Were they used for trade?

In 1837 there was a coin shortage. Several varieties of tokens were produced by private citizens to fill the need. Apparently merchants accepted these coins as actual currency.

That is one very cool find, congrats Frank. I would love to find one of those. Good luck. Mark

Do/did you have the 15" ML coil too or did you go from the 11 stock to the CoilTec?

I've always wanted the 10x5 for my Nox, but missed one on sale here just a bit ago!

Congrats on your second hard times token, that's pretty dang sweet!
