My first "old" cache!

Hey, dudes, I went detecting today with my club and it was only 10 degrees along with a -4 Wind Chill. Now, that is considered extreme! But, to make a long story short, I found 11 Wheats, 2 Jefferson nickels, 2 Indian Head cents, 1 Buffalo nickel, and 2 silver dimes! Most of these finds came from my first "old" cache!

This cache consisted of: 8 Wheatbacks, 1941 and 1946 nickels, a dateless Buffalo, and a 1946 Rosie! The silver dime was the last coin that I pulled from this cache!

Oh, by the way, my brother, Keith, found 4 Indian Head cents -- two 1897s, an 1899, and a 1903. Keith is leading the club in Injuns this year with 9. His goal is to find 50!

Here is a picture of my finds.

PI, we are rough, tough, and hard to diaper.  Keith was showing off by digging with one hand on one occasion; that guy is nuts!

Nice going ZB. That weather is tough to hunt in. I know, I have to work in it, and boy do my hands hurt after they thaw out.

Keith, blitz, and I didn't even wear gloves. Rob said that we were a bunch of Vikings.

Yeah Zoyboy Vikings dig with a double bladed battle axe....My hands are stiff and sore. My digging trowel got an extreme workout.I thought that at any giving minute I was going to break it. That digger that Rob made me is the ticket. He sure knows how to make them doesnt he?I'm going to have calluses on top of my calluses.

Zoy, nice finds congrats! Up here in Alberta a few of us hunt through the winter as well. I've found a bricklayer's hammer makes a dandy pick for chipping into the frozen ground, see the attached picture. Just be careful to pick out around the target so you don't smash it!
