I was out playing with the ace 250 and came across several signals.

So my newbie questions are:
1. how many times do you get a good signal and it is junk? Half the time? quarter of the time?
2. How many times do you find nothing at all? Half the time, quarter of the time?
3. Are good signals when it keeps repeating when you do an x pattern?

I hate waiting and am trying to find as much info as possible in the mean time, so when I can dig, I will dig only real targes, be them junk or coins.

thanks again!

When I am hunting coins, in the COIN Mode, and I get a solid BELLTONE signal I know the following:
If it IDs as a quarter...It is a Quarter!
If it IDs as a dime it is a dime! Once I found a silver ring that is the same diameter as a dime that IDed as a dime.
If it IDs as a penny it is a penny (except 1981 and older will ID as dimes)
If it IDs as a nickel it is a nickel ( except some pull tabs will ID as nickels)
I am sure that halves and dollars (old) will ID properly also.
I am getting pretty good by telling the difference between a pull tab tone and a nickel tone...even in a "trashy area" I only dig pull tabs about 50% of the time.

I ALWAYS fine something if the Yeller Feller indicates a target. Set your SENSITIVITY to 4 or 5 to reduce "falsing". At sensitivity of 4 you can still ID a penny that it 6" deep.

Good look with the Yeller Feller, I am sure that you are going to be happy with it....It is a GREAT detector. Bob in Texas

Like above.... Listen for a nice clean belltone any sounds that just cut off are normally bad signs. Once I get a full tone (sounds like a med. pitch "ping") On the left and right swing, I turn 45 degrees and see if I get the same result....
The aggrevating thing is sometimes it will sweep good one way and when you sweep coming from another direction the tone will cut off at the end. Or it will ping good on half the sweep and cut off on the other ...on those I think you really have about a 30% chanceof finding something.
Yesterday I went to a small park/beach 3 time I got perfect penny hits no matter what direction I swept. all three were the tops of crushed drink cans.
That will tick you off.........
