Manticore Headphones

I have never been happy with GG headpnes, I got rid of all of mine, didn't like tones, as you said did a terrible job on wind noise. I would never buy them again they left a bad taste in my mouth.
The first GG were too quiet and then they came out with the Amphibians and I tried them on my Excals and didn't like them for tones and wind resistance,,,,,I use two tone program on the Manticore so tone doesn't really matter to me,,,,,,two tone the machine runs smoother and I am more interested in the 2D mapping screen and VDI numbers but I am going to dig everything other than known iron/junk,,,,,,the Threshers have reasonable comfort, block wind pretty well but I do have my set of GG for back up if I need them,,,,,,,GL HH

Comfort is the goal for me. I hate squeezing headphones. I also hate hearing the wind. So the balance between the two has been a white whale for many years.
I am with you,,,,comfort is first,,,,,the Koss HP on the Excals were the worst,,,,,,,,I really did like the tones on them though,,,,I could tell I was digging aluminum and a pull tab because I could actually hear two tones from both holes,,,,but, I still dug it all anyway,,,:laughing:gl hh

Has anyone tried a shower cap for the wind? Pulled down over the head phones? I've been using my beanie cap pulled down over which helps some but the last trip out it was raining so I need something to keep my Go Pro external battery dry, thinking shower cap.

Might look a little strange but who cares, if I can cut a fair amount of the wind noise I'll do it.
Just ordered..View attachment 626901
You gonna look hot in that... careful they may take you to the looney bin if they see that on the water... make sure you let us know what hospital they lock you up in...

Joe I’m going to need a picture🤣. I’d recommend taking a look at the custom phones that Clive sells for the Manty. They are excellent and comfortable. They block the wind/wave noise really well and performance is top notch. Audio boost is not needed which I imagine saves some battery time. I think I paid $185 to my door and they paid for themselves first hunt in South Beach.

When I used the ML105's, I used a set of covers that seemed to help: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/186736925501
Although not waterproof due to the holes for the charging port, they did reduce the wind noise a little and also kept the worst of the rain at bay...

Whether you can get similar covers for the headphones mentioned on here ,I don't know...

Let it be known,........... this one was to small and would not cover the phones, sending it back for one that will.

I'll make sure to get a final picture in the wild....... Using my Skullies w/Gels, I can still hear the signals in 15 plus MPH winds with my head turned in most directions but there are a few spots I have to adjust my head angle to hear.

My main issue is I run a external phone battery to power the Go Pro for 5 to 6 hours of continuous recording, if there is a chance of rain I can't use it. The shower cap will cover the battery.. which it sets on top of the head phone crossover bar. Just figured if I'm solving one problem maybe I can help some on the wind.

As far as the wind noise, Ive tried it all.. from foam wind soxs for microphones, the fur type of covers for microphones, I even made a low profile set of head phones made into a neoprene hood. Some worked better then others but for total wind elimination ..NaDa

Use whatever works Joe. But just be forewarned that women tend to love fashion. So that cap might turn out to be a magnet for any eye-candy in the vicinity. Maybe Earl should look into getting one, lol.

Ruh Ro, LOOK OUT Joe. Apparently, word has been getting out around the Chesapeake Bay about your new, upcoming fashion accessory. I told ya that women love fashion, and now it looks like you're already starting to attract attention from local eye-candy known as the "CAMO GALS". :clapping:

The one I ordered for men was too small, returned today. Have ordered the female one .... see how this one fits. The Go Pro is a issue, mine is mounted on a L bracket off the Left head phone cup so some of the cup maybe exposed.

The female one's probably are larger due to women typically having more hair than men. Probably was different in the 60's and 70's with the Hippies, but today, seems most men have gone back to shorter hair, yours truly included. I love waking up in the morning and not having "bed head", lol.

BTW, couldn't resist the photo of the "CAMO GALS", all in good fun. If yours works out, maybe I'll be sporting one. If anyone gives me any crap, I'll just tell them to shut up, it's what I wore in the military, lol.
