I have been detecting a lake the last 3 weeks that has been lowered about 3 feet. I have detected several days using chest waders and a sand scoop. I have found over 300 coins so far including 15 silvers. The 1942 Walker and the 1902-o Barber Quarter were nice surprises. On one hunt I scooped a good signal and looked at the muck in the scoop and saw the rim of a half dollar. I was thinking another Walker.....nope it was a Kennedy and not even silver....
I also found a small sterling cub scout ring, a South African coin, a V-nickel and a Buffalo nickel. Hoping for a few more hunts, it was 38 degrees hunting it today so time is short...

Impressive finds and totals! Some great hunting and a really nice variety of finds!
Thank you, some nice ones but no where near the volume you have been hauling in. :chaplin:
Nice! Sure looks better than my ocean silver! Got to love water hunting silver either way though. Congrats!
Thanks Mad Dog. Yea I have seen pics of salt water silver, it sure can get worn down.
A real good haul in!👍
I have had one day with six silvers and one with four at this spot. I am happy with those hauls for sure. ;);)
Quite a score Charlie, congrats on all the silver, wheats and clad. Well done. My thoughts on hunting lowered lakes is getting stuck in the mud. How many times did you get stuck ? Good luck. Mark
Hey Mark, There have been a lot of wheats. The mud is bad in some spots. These spots are mostly further out from shore where I am hunting.. the waves have eroded/moved much of the dirt near the shore in what is usually a couple of feet deep. It has left a fairly solid/rocky bottom. It has settled out in the deeper water. It is quite mucky in what would have been 7 feet of water, that is now about 3 feet until they close the dam. As soon as I step out too far it DOES feel like it sucks you down. not a good feeling as it has been hard to get loose. Detecting in any more then 3 feet while trying to keep the control head out of the water is tough. Since my Equinox is out of warrantee I won't submerge it.

Congrats on some great finds. Gotta love the Walker & Barber. Those are getting harder to find. Best of luck on any return trips.

Pretty cool that some you guys have the opportunities to find those lowered lakes. I can see plenty of reasons to get into freezing water. Well done.
