Today was 64 degrees, albeit with wind gusts in the 30s, and cold front tomorrow, so I had to get in an after-work hunt. Went to a former school site on my way home that had a school from the 1870s to the '40s. I have gone over this pretty well with a grand total of two coins, a Buff and an IHP. I hit a good 18 to 20 on the Nox and dug a pretty deep IHP. A quick good find always inspires me so I mostly concentrated on the surrounding area, although I thought I'd covered it pretty well in the past. Turned up a slightly domed button that has stars and leaved branches on it. Then near al tree that I am pretty sure doesn't date back to the school era, I got a signal that I thought was can slaw but dug it to be safe. Kicked up this Art Deco-ish bracelet with kind of cloverlike charms and glass beads painted silver. Hit a couple of .32 rimfire casings and a live .22 short. But somewhere toward the end there, I got a signal that sounded like iron falsing (lots of nails here) but was showing a pretty constant 25/26 and sure enough, there was a pretty nice 1905 Barber down there. So while I feel it's been hit well in the past, they missed a nice one. My success after spending hours here with little to show for it seems a little odd, although most of the past hunts were with the stock coil, not the sniper. But I wonder if the fact that my last real hunt was the permission where I hit 8 silvers and 7 Buffalos... sometimes I think clad hunting makes me less in tune with the signals you get hunting deeper old coins.

AHHH! Well done. It always pays to at least go over ground you think you have cleared out. As Gomer Pyle once said; Surprise, Surprise,Surprise.:rofl2:

Great hunt and nice saves! I keep going back to this one set of grass school fields that I think I’ve hammered but sometimes a good find or two still turns up! I do believe you’re right about being in tune - mood has a decent amount of play here too! Congrats on the IHP, Barber and bracelet.

Nice Iggy, congrats on the Barber, Ihp and bracelet. Good luck. Mark

The post title was because the odds of a shlub like me finding Barbers in two different locations in a month's time are about the same odds of being stuck by lightning twice. I realized that was pretty obscure.
