Large Cent ? Colonial Copper ?

View attachment 579326 I spent two hours hunting a small park and dug $2.92 in clad plus a large copper piece but after cleaning it with a toothpick to get the dirt and green crust off it, I still can't tell what it is because there's absolutely no detail left on it whatsoever. It may have been a Large Cent or a Colonial copper coin.
Congrats on the clad and large copper D4C. That park may have some old silver left. Good luck. Mark

I found a large coin also, and I can't identify mine either; Maybe I'll try the steel wool, but I doubt it will bring any detail out at all...It's 1.5mm thick and around 31mm diameter.

I soak mine in H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide)then swab them with q-tips soaked in H2O2. I wanna guess you have found a king George. I think I see the Bob Hope nose😂

Thanks Mark.....I've hunted this spot at least ten times in the past and have yet to pull even one item of silver from it, either a coin or a piece of sterling. This was the first old thing I've dug there. I'll go back again sometime in the future.
