I rolled up to a cellar hole yesterday and immediately noticed some poor mannered detectorer had recently moved several rocks,
dug out dirt and went on his( or her) way. I checked their dig hole and found nothing, so I pushed the dirt back in and re positioned the rocks. I swang the coil 2 feet to the right and,on the surface, was a king George Hibernian and thank you very much🤣👍👍👍
I also found a posie ring and a couple of buttons.
The first picture is their dig hole.

Shame on him and good for you. Congrats on the KG and other cool finds. I have had the coin fly off the plug when flipping it and you think WTH ? Thinking it must have been one of those fabled disappearing signals. Almost always a rescan of the area will find the target. Looks like he didn't rescan and serves him right for not filling in his hole. I am not all that neat when in the woods but I do make sure my holes are filled. Good luck. Mark

I always fill my holes back...would really suck to sprain your ankle in a hole that was left open, and covered with leaves. I don't worry about making them neat, but I do fill em!

I'm not too particular on filling holes. Who's gonna mind?
Well, I kinda think someone else may walk through there and if I left a dug hole and they got hurt, I would really feel bad. Not many people are woods savy.

When I detect in the woods, I always fill my holes and cover them over with leaves. Don't want anyone to know where I've detected. I also don't want some nature loving Karen trying to get me banned from any of my spots because I'm "damaging" the flora...

Whoaaaa there. Don't edit my post to change the intended message. The woods that I hunt are large, remote areas that are/were logged. No dog walkers, birdwatchers or hikers going there.

Well maybe not where you are, but here there are people in the woods all the time. Lot of Deer, coyote, bear, and Turkey hunters, not to mention the mushroom hunters. I based my comment basically where I live. I didn't edit anything in your post, I just added something I felt was also important.

This was my post:
Nice find! I admit when I am hunting in the mountains I'm not too particular on filling holes. Who's gonna mind? Deer? Bear?

This is what you quoted:

Nice finds, I think it's just asking for trouble not filling my holes. I'll most likely step in the damned thing and break my ankle in the middle of nowhere.

That's exactly what I envision happening. I can almost hear him now. I had a great signal!! What happened to it?😂
