How to proceed with find

Hi all,

Found these two along a Gulf Coast beach and I don’t know how to proceed. How can I clean them enough to know what they are? Could they be non-modern coins?

Unfortunately they appear to be modern clad pennies that have corroded. There's really no way to clean them, they are too far gone to be identifiable at this point. These are a common find on the beaches, modern zinc pennies don't last long in salt water.

If it's old I start with a wire wheel on a grinder.
